L'Olivo
1 Piazza San Quiriquo
€40-60
One of the best restaurant
I have tested in Lucca so far. It's not cheap, but it serves good,
traditional Tuscan cuisine.
I really liked l'Olivo. It's a somewhat formal, but not too tight place. The food is good, the service efficient and friendly, overall I found the atmosphere quite cosy.
I had a solid
Tuscan Antipasto, various sausage and ham, really excellent, and Gina had
grilled vegetables. The eggplant and fennel were especially good. This was
followed by spaghetti with eggplant for Gina, fairly good, and a great pork
filet with roasted potatoes for me. I love roasted potatoes and those were
great. We washed this down with an excellent Chianti Peppoli, at €12 for a
half bottle. Our son, being at that stage in life where sauce is seen as an
intolerable parental oppression, had plain parpadelle (plain square pasta),
very goos but a tad overcooked, and Gelato for dessert. The check came out
to €100 (actually 105 which they kindly reduced to 100 without us even
asking) for 2 and a child.
